The Silver Artist School of Contemporary Silver Jewellery Crafting - is dedicated to developing proficiency in the use of Art Clay and other complimentary materials. We run Tasters, Introductory, Advanced and Design Courses. Our unique Signature Course incorporates an internationally recognised qualification, through Art Clay World UK and Japan.

The school aims are:

* To equip students with all they need to design and make beautiful, professional, silver jewellery for business or pleasure.

* To offer flexible fun learning that fits in with busy work and family lives.

* To encourage enjoyable silver crafting for everyone, from the hobbyist to the professional.

* To maintain high quality silver crafting and smithing with the use of Art Clay and other complimentary materials.

Art Clay is a wonderful product that has made silver jewellery making accessible to all who have desired to make jewellery but have been put off by the cost of bulky expensive equipment normally associated with silver smithing and the time required with traditional methods. With Art Clay you can complete a simple item within two hours.

Art Clay consists of three properties (silver powder, an organic binder and water) mixed together to make a silver clay which can be shaped, rolled as flat as paper and even extruded. When dried and fired, the binders burn away. The finished item is fine silver and valued as 99.9% silver when hallmarked.

Your Tutor - Instructor, Anwa Essien has a BA Hons in Art and Design and is one of the first ten Art Clay Senior Instructors to qualify in the UK.  As a practicing designer and artist, her multi-disciplinary approach to art and design will inspire anyone who wants to learn and develop their own original, designer jewellery.
